What is your money meaning?

Are you just chasing money, or do you know exactly why you want to make money?

Often, we work our buts off trying to make money, but we don’t really understand the deep reason why we chase this mooler.

I find that if you understand what I call your money meaning, you will have something much more driving you towards achieving it. We all want money for different reasons, some of us know those reasons and of us don’t.

There are 2 main factors that usually drives people’s need for money

Inspiration or Desperation!

If you are seeking money as a resource to get you to a certain purpose, then your drive for money is INSPIRATION.

  • Pursue your passion
  • For investments
  • Self-development
  • Start a business
  • Create your own working schedule
  • Become a philanthropist

If you are seeking money because you need to make ends meet and catch up on your bills, then your money drive is DESPERATION.

  • Pay bills
  • Getting out bad debt
  • Buying expensive things to fit in
  • Addiction of some sort

Inspiration is a feeling of enthusiasm you get from someone or something, which gives you new and creative ideas.

Desperation is the feeling of being in such a bad situation that you will take any risk to change it.

Here’s what I think makes it dangerous to chase money because you are desperate, when you are desperate you are not in a good space of mind. Instead of understanding why the need for money and why you are not able to meet your needs, you look everywhere and take anything you can find that promises you money.

The problem with money is that, it is effective at forcing people to do what they don’t want to do, but no one likes to be forced to do anything. When we feel that others are pulling the strings, we go away mentally. We lose focus and that takes you away from your true vision.  Money can strain our internal motivation for work. So, this will affect your activities for making money. You will be attracted to activities that promise you quick money and when they don’t deliver, you will quit to find something else that might work.

Understanding your money meaning will give you guidance on the actions you need to take to change your money situation.

When you don’t understand why you want money, you will not know what to do with it when you get it because Wealth without Wisdom is Failure. When you don’t know the plan for your money, then you will have problems keeping it.

Think about it this way, if you had all the money that you needed. Would you be happy? Will all your problems go away? Would you have reached purpose?

Don’t just seek money but understand your money meaning. Does money mean;

  • Freedom
  • Better life
  • Opportunities
  • Dept free
  • Personal development
  • Fulfillment
  • Choices
  • New house, cars etc

What I have noticed is that rich people see money as a tool to be used to make more money. Average people see money as means by which they live, they use their hard-earned money to pay bills, buy things, and have a decent life. Rich people look for places to put their money where it will earn as much as possible, then spend from their assets. Average people buy new cars etc.

Poor mind towards money – Earn then you consume (eventually you are going to start consuming more than what you earn, which will then lead you to start borrowing or using credit to compensate your little earnings. That is not even the worst part, the worst part will be you depending on one source of income, leaving you with no real financial safety net)

Rich mind towards money – Earn, invest in an Asset – then consume from the assert (in this case, if you do this long enough, you can accumulate several asserts that will eventually substitute all your earnings. Putting you in a better position as you would be earning from multiple streams of income)

Have a better mind-set towards your money. Money can be a tool towards your Vision. Imagine having all these ideas but no money to back it up, this can be quite unsettling because Wisdom without Wealth is frustration.

  • Understand why you need it.
  • Change your need from desperation to inspiration, start seeing money as a tool rather than a need for life.
  • Do your earnings vs expenditure exercise.
  • Understand passive vs active income.
  • Start looking for other income opportunities.
  • Work towards balancing the wisdom you are seeking with the wealth you are working for.

It’s not the money that matters, it’s how you use it that gives it value!
